What is the best way to sanitize baby toys?

my baby has a lot of toys that he keeps chewing on, throwing on the floor, etc so I want to clean them as often as I can. His plastic toys are easy to clean. I just wash with soap and warm water but don't know how to clean his soft toys that come with a label of surface cleaning only. What is the best way to clean such toys?

  1. Spray bottle full of water with a couple tablespoons of bleach.
  2. There's a disinfectant out there (I think clorox might make it) that is very gentle and safe just about for any use. If you go to the store and look in the disinfectant aisle it will probably be there, the 100% gentle kind.
  3. My son's doctor said that even the soft toys can be machine washed on a very gentle cycle with Dreft or handwashed with Dreft and air dried. Also, he said try using hot water and Palmolive Oxy Plus Foam Dishwashing Foam when you hand wash.
  4. You may be surprised how many of those toys can actually survive the washer and some even the dryer. I've washed many stuffed toys and they come out of the washer clean and in good shape. Use the gentle cycle and air dry them if you're concerned about the heat of dryer. You might try it first with something you're not really attached to and see how it works for you.
  5. Try these tips http://www.healthychild.net/articles/sh33toyclean.html
  6. Vinegar water. It is safe and non toxic. You can also try health food stores for something safe or try to google holistic cleaning products and recipes.
  7. I clean my boys toys with those Lysol wipes ... if i dont have any at that moment, I just take a little bottle of water and a bit of bleach ......
  8. I Lysol the hard toys, and machine wash the soft ones. I also fill the sink with mild soap and water and let them soak in that and dry. As far as the soft toys that have batteries, I just toss them out after they are used for so long.
