Would people buy handicrafted soft toys?
I am interested in making handicraft soft toys, like those animal shaped or food shaped ones for extra cash. And I don't know if this will sell well, so I'm just wondering if people would buy such crafts?

- To be honest, China will kill you. They do them so cheap that the cost difference between hand-made and china-made is so large that people lose the value of your craft. I have friends that tried to hand-made items. Until you recover your material and labor costs, you have to charge $25-30. But I can go to Wal-Mart and get similar for $5-10. You would need to make something very unique or specific that people cannot get elsewhere. For example - "Will make a stuffed toy that looks like your favorite pet." That is a unique niche market that can't be duplicated on a mass scale. It is also personal and stimulates that "impulse buy." I think you would enjoy making them too. Something you can sell locally or get a website and offer on-line too. Good luck! (I think this idea deserves Best Answer - ha ha)
- Well I certainly would! I came across your question when doing a google search for a soft/plush toy picnic basket filled with play food. My son has one that I got at a garage sale and all his friends covet it when they come over. I want to get one as a birthday present for his buddy but can't find a similar one anywhere. If you decide to do these, let me know because I'd be interested!!
