Baby toys? Since my baby was born I'm looking at baby toys and thinking of what I should buy him. But I can't help noticing that so many toys seem like they are designed to be 'replacement parents' You get toys that 'read stories' that light up to 'soothe the child to sleep' and I can't help feeling that that is the mum or dads work! Not some battery operated toy! My husband and I are not rich, but even if we were I'd like to think that the job of reading stories and teaching ABC or numbers are OUR job and our baby will be much happier to have our attention to him rather than buying expensive bits of plastic while we devote our attention elsewhere! Maybe I'm being old fashioned here, but I can't help thinking that it's MY job to teach my son to read and count and soothe him to sleep. What are your opinions on this? thank you

how do i get my yorkie to realize that baby toys are not his toys? so we're due in march but i'm already getting a lot of baby toys from ppl. problem is, yorkie over here thinks the toys are his and he yelps, barks and jumps up to get them. he wont' leave us alone unless we hide the toys. How can you safely and effectively surface clean baby toys without ruining them? My son has toys that crinkle, chime, play cute little tunes, rattle, have all sorts of different kinds of textures, etc. that I really do not want to ruin for him. We decided to let our third child grow up without being bombarded with the latest toys, in the hopes that he will be calmer, more imaginitive, and less driven for "stuff". Why do people clean their baby's toys with harsh chemicals like bleach? I just think it's overkill. I spray some Simple Green on a wet cloth and wipe down all my daughter's toys. Sometimes I actually just use water. They never get dirty but I do this anyway. I don't care how good someone rinses them off after wards, bleach is just so gross. My daughter just got a Bright Starts tropical fun around we go play center for Christmas and for the removable seat it says for 6 months to walking age, but the weight limit is 25 lbs. and the height limit is 30 inches.
